What is Dwelling Coverage?
Today we are going to breakdown the term DWELLING COVERAGE. This is usually the very first line of coverage on your homeowners’ or rental property policies, sometimes referred to as ‘Coverage A’. This is the amount of coverage for the home structure – roof, walls, plumbing, electric, floors, etc. Anything attached to the building itself would be part of this value.
Take note that anything not attached to the structure of the home itself, would not be covered under ‘Dwelling’. For example, your fence would not be part of the dwelling. Instead it would be covered under ‘Other Structures’ coverage. We’ll tackle that coverage option next week – stay tuned!
